The new flat pack series are designed to be easier to build for our younger model enthusiast. When the handle is cranked, a single cam raises the Elephant’s head, tail and trunk. This would make a great science project for school combining the animal kingdom with basic engineering principles. The flat pack animals all use a similar mechanism, at the heart if which is an offset cam in a horizontal cam box which is open at one end. That box is connected to a single flat vertical pushrod that makes connections to other parts of the body by short pushrods or body parts acting as cams and cam followers to create a motion that is unique to the animal depicted in the kit.

The models are manufactured from renewable wood sources and are design for age 9 and over. Younger builders may require the assistance of an adult. The models, both kits and built, are not suitable for children 3 years and under due to the risk of choking on the small parts.
