New York, Southampton, San Francisco, Cherbourg, Rotterdam, Panama or Suez………..they are the ubiquitous workhorses of the global waterways and harbors. Large or small, local or ocean going they typify power and hard work. Based on a similar mechanism to the Sailboat the little tugboat will pitch and yaw on your imagination as you crank the handle.

The mechanism for the Tugboat is designed to provide movement in pitch and roll all driven by a single cam. The cam drives a pivoted bar to which the boat is attached and the off center motion of the cam provides the pitch motion. In addition to being pivoted in the center , the bar is pivoted at each end where it is attached to the hull and by means of a short rod connected to the base and the pivoted bar the boat is able to move left to right as well as pitching from stem to stern.

The models are manufactured from renewable wood sources and are design for age 9 and over. Younger builders may require the assistance of an adult. The models, both kits and built, are not suitable for children 3 years and under due to the risk of choking on the small parts.
