How the model works in technical terms
Rotary action is converted to linear movement by the displacement of cam follower between parallel guides. Horizontal action is concerted via linkage to vertical movement through a bell crank. The horizontal reciprocating rotary action achieved by the conversion of the cam’s rotary action to linear movement through the displacement of a cam follower between parallel guides, acting on a lever arm in the Horizontal plane attached to a pivot.
Linear displacement is facilitated through the center of this pivot to operate a system of pivoted links with parallel actions. The final movement of the upper body is produced by a compensatory link which reverses the effect of the parallel linkage and provides a rocking motion

The models are manufactured from renewable wood sources and are design for age 9 and over. Younger builders may require the assistance of an adult. The models, both kits and built, are not suitable for children 3 years and under due to the risk of choking on the small parts.
