Timberkits US First Customer Newsletter – November 2008

Laser Engraving

Did you know that here at Timberkits US we have an Epilog laser engraver that allows us to personalize your kits or built models when you purchase them?

Now here’s a different sort of Calendar!

We thought that it would be a really cool idea to make a Timberkits Calendar for next year. So we put our heads together and came up with some of our favorite models in a fun environment.

Editor’s Note

Welcome to this first edition of our Quarterly Customer Newsletter. What should we call it?

Well we have decided to have a competition for the name and the winner will be announced in the second issue and will receive 2 free model kits of their choice (with free shipping in the US), so please send your ideas to sales@timberkitsus.com.

The newsletter will keep you informed about new designs, new arrivals, any issues we come across that would be of value to you. Overall it is about trying to build a community of models builders from all generations that just simply enjoy assembling these fascinating automata.

Welcome to our first issue

The Center of the Timberkits Universe

Eric Williamson

So this is where it all begins, the design workshop of Eric Williamson and the fact that there is more than a passing resemblance to Disney’s Geppetto is not entirely surprising.

Eric has lived and worked now for many years in the Welsh town of Llanbrynmair, designing and manufacturing Timberkits and also building a museum of working automata which is well worth a visit if you happen to be in the area.

Oilfield Pump Jack Review

Oilfield Pumpjack

I come from a long line of self-educated jacks-of-all-disasters. If this student engineering kit could effectively instruct my younger boys to build a wooden toy apparatus with moving parts, then I was willing to admit that the Timberkits Series may be the next wonder of the world. Could Timberkits uncover an aptitude for engineering in my family? Time would tell.

New Arrivals

In addition to regularly checking the store, we thought it would be a good idea to update you about new kits, so in order of arrival we have: The Mermaid, The Golfer, The Oil Derrick...

In the Pipeline

Eric has recently enlisted the help of his daughter Sarah to help run the Museum in Llanbrynmair and they have plans for a Play Barn so watch out for developments there as we hear more about progress.

Extending the slip on packaging sleeve

We have updated our packaging design and have decided to gradually deploy the sleeve concept to all our stock in an effort to improve the look and stay ahead with our products.

Timberkits isn’t just for the boys!!

Well, when I first looked at a model kit, I thought Oh no this isn’t for me, it looks far too difficult to even start. Well I can now honestly say that it isn’t true. Ladies we can do this!

Autumn Fair at the National Convention Centre, Birmingham, UK

In September, Jenny and Mel from Timberkits US visited the UK to attend the Autumn Fair at which Timberkits was exhibiting. Eric and Alison Williamson were manning the booth which was in one of five halls of exhibitors, it was huge!!
